One of Korea's most prominent annual music awards event, the Golden Disk Award is touted as the country's version of the Grammys.

Held at the Hwajeong Gym in Koryeo University last night, a slew of top K-pop artists such as Super Junior, SHINee, SNSD (Girls' Generation), F.T Island, CN Blue, BoA, 2AM, and many more groups came dressed in their finest as they celebrated a momentuous occasion in Korean showbiz.

K-Pop fans across Asia had the opportunity to vote for their favourites, with one of South Korea's biggest boyband, Super Junior leading the polls with their 2010 hit song 'Bonamana', taking up 43.14% of total votes.

They fell short of expectations and failed to bring home the top prize of the Disk Bonsang Daesung award (Record of the Year), which eventually went to their fellow label-mates SNSD (Girls' Generation).

The nine-member girl group bagged the Disk Bonsang Daesang (Record of the Year) for Oh!, a grand prize awarded to the band for having the best full-length album. Riding high on the popularity wave in Asia, Super Junior, SNSD, and SHINee from SM Entertainment group also proceeded to sweep all three Popularity Awards distributed that night.

Super Junior wins “Best K-pop Group” at 2010 ASAP Pop Viewers Choice Awards

uper Junior was recently named the most popular Korean artist in the Philippines at the ASAP Pop Viewers Choice Awards 2010.

Artists who were nominated for the ‘Pop K-pop’ category were Super Junior, 2NE1, Wonder Girls,and One Way. Super Junior managed to outrank all three nominees by receiving 61.6% of the total votes, placing them in first place.

Last July 2010, Super Junior’s 4th album title track, ‘Bonamana‘, was ranked #1 on the MYX Philippines music chart for seven consecutive weeks, while their title track for their 4th repackage album, called ‘No Other’, placed #1 on the charts for five consecutive weeks.

Kyuhyun Role in 'THE THREE MUSKETEERS' confirmed

It is confirmed Super Junior's Kyuhyun is set to star in a musical.

Kyuhyun and labelmate Jay of rockband TRAX has been cast in musical version of the classic Alexander Dumas story The Three Musketeers. Kyuhyun and Jay will be alternating the lead role of d'Artagnan, a normal boy dreams of becoming one of the musketeers-an elite band of soldiers who live to serve the king. With d'artagnan in his journey are Athos, Porthos and Aramis.

This is Kyuhyun's musical debut, and also his acting debut. Jay on the other hand, already has a resume of musicals under his belt, with this year's Hey Bro? and the most recent Rock of Ages.

Constance Bonacieux, the main female character to whom d'artagnan falls in love with will be played by the Grace member of DANA.

The Three Musketeers open its curtains on December 15 at the Chungmu Art Hall in Jung-gu, Seoul, and will run until January 30,2011

Kyuhyun had a 20% chance of surviving after his accident

Yesterday, we reported that Super Junior’s Kyuhyun shared the details about his car accident from three years ago on Strong Heart. Now, the episode has aired and the full story about his horrific experience has been revealed.

Kyuhyun said on the episode that aired on the 13th,

“I got in a car accident after coming back from work in Yeoido. The car turned around and I was laid on the road. I was unconscious for four days. My ribs poked my lungs and the doctor told me I had a 20% chance of surviving.”

He continued,

“The surgery had to go through my neck but my father told the doctor that I was a singer and asked him to perform the surgery in another way. So the doctor performed the surgery through the sides of the body.”

He also added,

“My father was originally against me becoming a singer and to think that he protected my dreams and career while I was unconscious made me cry. After five months, I got on stage again and I felt like I was living a new life.”

Kyuhyun teared up while sharing the story.

It’s crazy to think about how much he went through.
